"Haaay people! You're now stalking 8 FM! Sharpen your knives and forks, because we're about to bring you the top of the food chain in Sitiawan!"
"What are you waiting for? Let's GO!! "
FIRST STOP, Seafood.
In a small chinese village known as "Ye Ba" (椰芭), restaurants have dotted the area as many people flock to the village for its famous seafood. However, one particular restaurant stands out from the others.
Thinking if those reviews are trustworthy?
Don't worry because we are here to discover and prove to you that the food here is indeed worth a try!
Restaurant Ah Pek Lee Kou Hock looks simple and ordinary but once we were inside, the laid-back outlook of the restaurant attracts us as it brings us closer to nature and it feels comfortable to enjoy our meal with the natural breeze blowing around us.
Going to stalk for yourself? Here's the address!
Ah Pek Lee Kou Hock Seafood
Lot 135, Kg.Cina
32000 Sitiawan
Perak.
Contact numbers: 016-597 7765 / 012 570 8828
These were the dishes recommended by the owner of the restaurant himself. There are fried Oyster Egg, Fried Squid, Lala, Sha Zhui Yee (Garfish) and Kam Heong Crabs.
Here’s our take on the yummy seafood we tried:
Crispy and fragrant, the Fried Oyster Egg tasted fresh and was not oily at all.

The Fried Squid is crunchy outside and chewy inside, albeit a little bit too salty.

Lightly fried with garlic and “taucu” paste, the LaLa were sweet and fresh, with no fishy smell.

Lastly, Fresh Coconut to quench our thirst! Its pulp was very soft and sweet.

Overall, the food was very tasty and reasonably priced.
The shop owner was also friendly and even offered to give us a discount off our bill !
Believe it or not, this seafood meal for eight people only costed us RM 147.
If you happen to be in Sitiawan, do not miss this restaurant! =)
NEXT STOP, desserts!
After our full meal, we discovered a small dessert stall near an Indian temple in Jalan Lumut.
Much to our surprise, this ordinary-looking stall is not just any roadside stall.
Instead, the stall owner had been invited by the Sultan of Perak to make Cendol in the palace back in 2007 !
The picture reads, “Sempena Pelancaran Kapal Ronda Ketiga” dated back in 2007.
The making of the Cendol, which is priced at only RM 2 per bowl.
[Rating: 8 /10]
Ta-daa!
The thin ice is added with big red beans and syrup which is not too thick or sweet. The green Cendol noodle was chewy and fragrant and it is obviously very fresh.
According to the owner, the coconut shell is used in the KL branch to hold the dessert as it will taste more fragrant. It is definitely different from our usual Cendol.
Looking for a special dessert to cool down the hot summer? Drop by Jalan Lumut to taste for yourself!
You hungry yet? Why not plan your own trip to Sitiawan the next time you feel your tummy rumbling? We guarantee you a fun and affordable experience!
Stay tuned for more yummy recommendations from our stalker crew at 8 FM. See you next time when we stalk for more good food in Perak!
you guys are so cool!!!the photos make me wanna fly to setiawan right now~~
ReplyDeletehoping for the next round...
cheap!!! unbelievably cheap!!! And it's seafood! >w< I wan a map~~~please? :3
ReplyDeleteI love those sea foods and you guys captured them at the right angle!
ReplyDeleteThe blog is good enough but I would like suggest that you guys should provide the readers some direction (or a map) so that people can find out the place easily!
And I think the subtitles should be "emphasized" as I almost miss out the subtitles Haha...
I love the foods and the blog! Stay tuning for your next post! ^_^
my comment:
ReplyDeleteto the content and pictures:
I think the content is okay, short and straight to point. Which is a good thing, to me at least. Provide more details such as the address or the map to the place for further clarification. Moreover, i don't really like the pictures of the seafood, the background is a bit too dark.
to the layout of the blog:
I think the background picture is too strong. I recommend using a duller background so people won't get distracted from the content. The banner is a little bit messy, too many colours and too many people. I recommend you to make a focal point, where people focus, maybe the picture of your leader or sort.
I like the name and the way you guys write as if its a broadcasting session.
that's all.
tamy :)
love the food review :D
ReplyDeleteIts very interesting! The food looks delicious from the angles you captured the photos. But the font is a bit hard to read. Mind changing it to something thicker?
ReplyDeleteAlso, i love the banner which is very unique. Your group name is very catchy as well. I will remember it for sure!
nice~
ReplyDeleteafter see this i going to love setiawan food...!!!
Wow, the radio broadcast style really attractive!
ReplyDeleteSo special and luckily there are caption and pictures, no need to read too much.
I want to try to food in Sitiawan!
This blog is great and I can't wait to try out the seafood and cendol. If can please provide the direction (or a map/adress). Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, detailed information regarding the food & location. Looking forward to your next destination.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the hard work!
Nice pic of the cendol! looks so yummy.
ReplyDeletei like your theme of the blog, so natural.
a very nice read, which makes me hungry!
have a glance on the blog...a sense of youthful-ness...haha!! =) a little suggestion...will be great if u list down the prices for each plate of food. =)
ReplyDeleteNot bad~ I'm super duper hungry right now.. =P
ReplyDeleteThe fried squid looks appetizing...and...did someone say the word salt? *drools*
ReplyDeletePretty good blog so far. Will check the place out if I have time (and a map...and my GPS...forget my GPS I'll get lost anyway so I'll drag my brother along)
nex time bring me go larrr~my saliva all drop out liao^^
ReplyDeleteOverall quite good, especially the direct food comments and great pictures....
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing has been basically mentioned by all of the above comments which is the map. The map is not very clear and noticeable.Providing a full address might help. You can also provide some brief directions to get there.
You should do something bout the picture on the most top,i think, maybe come up with a logo or make a collage but not full bodies.
If you have extra time you can do an extra post on the behind the scenes or water mark the pictures....
Have fun...looking forward to your next post.
The food is worth the try! They are extremely reasonable and from the photo, I can feel the taste, and it feels yummy. Reasonable and tasty food? GOOD! SETIAWAN!

Hi..
ReplyDeleteI like the Crew name for first!x)
creative!
hmm but my comment is make the pictures more interesting~ maybe use a different camera or something like that. Take clearer pictures of the food no matter on the angle or others. =))
Then can make food look more delicious! yeah!
but i like this blog! and ur course seems fun! can travel somemore!
-KweeYen here >^<
The Blog is a very good idea. Need to be alil bit more systematic. As in,
ReplyDeleteName of the Place, Address, Pricing, Ratings out of 10, Review. And then move on to the next one.
A suggestion. Find more vegetarian stalls. I'm a vegetarian. And, at times, it gets boring to go out every weekend to the same old restaurant, same old food. Find more Vegetarian Stalls/ Restaurants.
Well done, lads. :D
hello guys, i love love foods too :D and your page is cute and all of you too..

ReplyDelete<3 charis <3
I like msia food so much. Miss it so much sia…
ReplyDeleteThe food review and pictures make me long for more recommendations from you. However, I do find the background rather distracting, maybe you could go for more simple themes and emphasizing on your key information with some colors perhaps? Another suggestion could be uploading videos.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, thanks for recommendations. Looking forward for more.
Hey peeps!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this blog! While I read it, I can't help but craving for the food! :P

~Kharis~
Hello.
ReplyDeleteSo at first i was requested to leave a comment here but after reading the blog, i found that it was undeniable interesting!
It was informative enough for a food blog.Every single detail about the restaurant or food was mentioned and recommended.Especially the effort of trying to temp the readers by some picture captions.
Overall is not bad.If you need some suggestions, that would be maybe try on different background image/color over time and also some nice/hit background music/songs will do.
Keep it up people.Well Done!
the photos are nice ^^
ReplyDeleteNice! But can you make the pictures larger? Easier to see then :)
ReplyDelete^.^ OMG! Reading through and guess what was in my mind? - "Hey! This is fantastic!" Keep it up and fire up your enthusiasm in developing the blog. If you are thinking of having any guest for your next food-hunting-trip... hehe ^^ I wouldn't mind to be one. =P

ReplyDeleteYour blog background have some problem. It's in tile form, i recommend you guys to change the size of the picture.

ReplyDeletebut i suggest you all to use brighter background for those seafoods =) i think the background is a bit too dark.
And i love the way you all introduce the food! Keep it up!
You guys are full of energy!
ReplyDeleteAnyway do you all need to put your photos as the banner? Cause i think it would be better to put the foods' photos as the banner. The visitors will be immediately attracted to those food photos =))
And it would be good to use lighter background for your blog ^^

ReplyDelete
